Football season is in full swing, the leaves are changing colors, and the fall air is starting to feel crisp! You know what that means, it’s time for The ROAR’s annual flagship charity fundraiser. Tigers for Tatas kicks off Tuesday, October 1, from 6AM to 12PM at Trammell & Mills Law Firm, located at 1650-A East Greenville Street in Anderson. All proceeds will benefit Dabo’s All In Team Foundation for breast cancer research and prevention in the Upstate.
Sadly, the Swinneys have been impacted by breast cancer firsthand. Kathleen’s older sister Lisa tragically lost her battle with the disease when she was only 49 years old. Both Kathleen and her younger sister discovered they were carriers of the BRCA gene mutation, which put them at high risk for developing breast cancer. After Lisa’s death, Kathleen became convinced that early detection and careful preventative action may have saved her and her younger sister’s lives. More than 1 in 8 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and Kathleen made it her mission to help them.
Kathleen is now a champion for early breast cancer detection, and she is dedicated to fighting for women’s health. South Carolina DHEC lists breast cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in the state, so there’s a lot of work to be done. Dabo and Kathleen join our community partners and fans in passionately educating others about the disease, and by offering free screenings and tests throughout the region. Nothing is more important than supporting friends, families, and loved ones who are dealing with breast cancer diagnoses and fighting the disease across the Upstate. That’s what Tigers for Tatas is all about!
How to Get Involved
The ROAR proudly puts on Tigers for Tatas throughout the month of October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The October 1 event at Trammell & Mills features coffee and donuts with Mickey Plyler as he does his show live on location from 6AM-9AM. Then, Fax On Sports with John Hight and Faxon Childress will be live on site from 9AM to noon. Skins’ Hotdogs will serve lunch starting at 11. Plus, the AnMed Mobile Mammography Unit will offer screenings at Trammell & Mills between 8AM and 5PM. You can call (864) 512-5400 to schedule a mammogram, though walk-ins are welcome too! All are invited to stop by to buy a wristband or t-shirt to support The All In Team Foundation’s great work.
