These last few weeks have been very pivotal for both Clemson men’s and women’s basketball teams. With several players graduating, entering the transfer portal, and new faces joining the programs, the rosters are undergoing significant change. This offseason marks a turning point that could shape the future of both teams.
First let's take a look at the men's team. Clemson men’s basketball is going through a major shake-up this offseason. Between transfers and graduations, the roster is being reshaped in a big way. Several familiar names are moving on, and the team will look very different next season.
Six players have officially entered the transfer portal. Jake Heidbreder is heading west to join Fresno State, and Asa Thomas announced his commitment to Furman University. Chauncey Wiggins is staying in the ACC after just recently announced his transfer to Florida State. Del Jones has committed to Radford, and Christian Reeves has signed with College of Charleston. Jackson Roberts has yet to announce where he will be going, but is reportedly receiving interest from multiple colleges around the country.
On top of the transfers, Clemson is also saying goodbye to a handful of players due to graduation, including Ian Schieffelin. Schieffelin has announced he is entering the transfer portal despite reports that he may have no remaining college eligibility. Joining him in that move are Jaeden Zackery and Myles Foster, both of whom have also entered the portal under similar circumstances.
Dillon Hunter, Dallas Thomas, and Ace Buckner are set to return to the team. RJ Godfrey is also returning to Clemson after a season at the University of Georgia. He began his college career with the Tigers and now makes his way back to the program. Nick Davidson, a transfer from the University of Nevada, joins the team along with his younger brother, Blake Davidson, an incoming freshman. The Tigers have also picked up key transfers in Efrem “Buttah” Johnson (UAB), Jake Wahlin (Utah), and Carter Welling (Utah Valley University)
Just like the men’s team, Clemson women’s basketball is going through a significant offseason of change. Several key players have graduated, marking the end of an important chapter for the program as those athletes move on to the next stages of their careers.
Right now, the Tigers have three players set to return: Hannah Kohn, Mia Moore, and Raven Thompson. With so many changes happening, their presence gives the team some stability heading into next season. All three bring experience that will be valuable as Clemson works in new players to the team.
Bella Ranallo has announced she’s entering the transfer portal, with three years of eligibility remaining. Luckily, we have some new transfers coming in. Including Rusne Augustinaite from Georgia Tech, Demeara Hinds from Wake Forest, and Taylor Johnson Matthews from DePaul University. They’ve also added Rachael Rose, a standout guard from Wofford. These new faces bring experience from competitive programs and should make an immediate impact.
